18 October 2011

Today I said good-bye to my last English summer.
Shivering inside my too-lightweight jacket
barely sidestepping two yellow leaves
blowing down the sidewalk--
the wind whipped by my cheek
kissing it with much colder--but not yet ice-cold, lips
ending, in that instant, my last English summer.
Next May when a soft warm breeze
gently caresses the bluebells in English woods
I won’t be walking down this street.

The Path

I walked the path
step by step
knew every corner, tree and rock.
But looking back
the path now clear
my life was nothing like I’d thought.

The Wind

fierce wind blowing
widely splitting
high white blue sky
ever opening

enter all into the circle
sit upon the tiles of trees
gather quiet
silence round us
calmly breathing
hoping peace

fierce wind blowing
rushing wildly
down snow mountains
blasting free

enter all into the circle
loosely holding
all the rumbling
letting go
what spirit frees

fierce wind blowing
skimming black ground
flattening green grass
touching sea

enter all into the circle
gracious inside
hollowed be
filled with nothing
spaciously.
